Our Story
1899
— the year our doors first opened.
Rooted in Gardena before Gardena was a city.
For more than a century, First Presbyterian Church has been a steady presence in the South Bay — through changing seasons, generations, and a neighborhood that has become beautifully varied. In 2024 we marked our 125th anniversary, and the work goes on: to worship faithfully, to serve generously, and to welcome whoever walks through the door.
Our worship holds tradition and renewal together — treasured hymns alongside contemporary songs — because faith is both inherited and made new.

There is no dress code and no insider knowledge required. We gather each Sunday for about an hour of Scripture, song, and prayer — and afterward, everyone is welcome to stay for a fellowship meal in the Fireside Room.
