Rooted in Gardena since 1899.
For more than a century, we have been a steady presence in the South Bay — gathering to worship, to serve our neighbors, and to welcome whoever walks through the door.
First Presbyterian Church was founded in 1899, taking root in Gardena before Gardena was even a city. In the generations since, our congregation has weathered changing seasons alongside a neighborhood that has grown into one of the most beautifully diverse communities in America.
In 2024 we marked our 125th anniversary — a milestone of faithfulness, and a moment to look forward as much as back. Our calling remains the same as it was at the beginning: to worship God, to love our neighbors, and to make room at the table for everyone.
As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we are part of the Presbytery of the Pacific and a worldwide family of believers in the Reformed tradition. Worship here holds the treasured and the new together — traditional hymns alongside contemporary songs.
